Story

The Mudmi Blue Diamond Mug draws from the Mudmi (Matmi/Mudmee) Ikat traditions of Thailand and Laos, known for their elongated diamond motifs with soft feathered edges. The structured band of hand-painted diamonds paired with the carved fluted base creates a balance of graphic rhythm and tactile detail.
Though grounded in Southeast Asian Ikat lineage, the simplified geometry also echoes certain contemporary Pochampalli interpretations, where younger weavers experiment with bolder, more defined forms.
This piece sits within the spirit of Tānā Bānā — where textile language meets clay, and woven logic finds new life in ceramic form.
