The Rani’s Stepwell Bowl is a sculptural statement piece conceived to anchor a dining table, coffee table, or console. The stepped rim gives the form its distinctive architectural character—each rise creating rhythm, shadow, and presence, while also allowing the bowl to be viewed differently from every angle.
The surface work is inspired by Spanish Lenguas —repeating vertical flame-like motifs that move upward across the form. Their stepped ascent evokes the geometry of traditional stepwells, lending the bowl both its visual language and its name. The contrast of earthy tones against the dark clay body enhances the sense of depth and movement across the surface.
While designed as a statement object, the bowl remains functional. A transparent glaze on the interior makes it suitable for everyday use—as a fruit bowl, or for holding baubles, keepsakes, or collectibles—without compromising its sculptural intent.
