This is the very first level of our Potter’s Wheel foundation course. This course is suitable for complete beginners to wheel throwing. This course includes: Clay prep, throwing, trimming and finishing basics, intro to surface decoration techniques. Bisque firing is included in this course which is the first round of firing. Students get to take home the pieces they've made. Glaze Application workshop is not a part of this course and is conducted separately.

Frequency: Saturday and Sunday

Timings: 10 AM to 1 PM

Class strength: 5 students per batch

Goals

  • Being able to pull 11-12 cm height cylinder with a 500 g clay
  • Being able to prep 2 kg of clay
  • Doing Basic form modification - cylindrical bowls
  • Learning to trim and finish pots
  • Attaching Basic Handles
  • Introduction to decorating pot surfaces in leather hard stage
  • Becoming independent in a pottery studio - that is, being able to use clay, tools and equipment responsibly and cleaning up after
  • Production goals: 2 tumblers, two mugs and two bowls.

  • Bisque firing of upto 15 pieces

Exclusions

  • Shipping or packing of pieces
  • Storage of pieces at the studio for a duration of more than 10 days after bisque firing is completed

Terms

  • Missing Class: You can miss upto two classes during the course. Make up sessions for a maximum of 2 classes will be provided on stipulated dates. The compensatory classes are on weekdays only on four dates that will be determined on Day 1 of class. You can pick 10 AM to 1 PM slot OR 2 to 5 PM slot. You can pick two slots out of eight slots to compensate for your two missed classes. After these dates, there will be no make up classes or refunds. There are no exceptions to this rule, including accidents, hospitalisation, travel, family emergencies. If you're unable to makeup on the above dates, there will be no compensatory class or refund provided after the last date of the course under any circumstances.

  • Refund: Complete refund will be provided if you request to cancel your seat before 12 PM, 10 days prior to course commencement date. After this date, refund will be provided only if your blocked seat gets occupied by a student on the waitlist or from your end. We will reach out to our database from our end to the best of our ability and try to fill the seat in your stead. However, if a replacement is not found before course begins, no refunds will be provided. There are no exceptions to this rule.

  • Transferability: The seat can be transferred to a friend or family member only before the course begins.

  • Postponement: The seat cannot be deferred to a later batch under any circumstances. There are no exceptions to this rule.
